surgical nursing

In this blog I'll be talking about the job of a surgical assistant nurse and their role. First of all, Surgical assistant nurses or perioperative nurses, are a critical part of the healthcare team because they assist patients and make sure they are in good condition before, during and after surgery. They are usually working alongside the surgeons, the surgical technician, the nurse anesthetists, and the nurse practitioners in the OR “operating room” to help them and make sure everything goes nice and smoothly. There are many different types of surgical nurses that a registered nurse can pursue and all of them are important to insure a successful surgical procedures some of these types of nursing include: scrub nurses( go in the surgery with the doctor and the patient, prepare the operation, make sure the tolls are sterile and ready to be use) circulating nurses ( go over the consent forms, the procedure, update family members)  Rn first assistants (Work directly with the doctor on the surgery, control bleeding, do stitches, apply bandages etc.) PACU nurses stand for post-anesthesia care unit nurse (the post-anesthesia care unit is where patient are taken of after their surgery, these nurse help the patient come out of anesthesia, help them recover). The nurses can focus on those specialties depending on what they are interested in. Even though there are many types of surgical nurses that does not necessarily mean they all work in the operating room together. There are a distinct number of places where they can work, some of these places include: The emergency room, In or out-patient or operating rooms, recovery rooms, Medical-surgical care unit. In order to become a surgical nurse you first have to be a licensed In order to become a surgical nurse you first have to be a licensed registered nurse through a diploma program. The reason is because it gives you extra training, helps you stand out from the competition and boost your resume to make you more appealing to hospitals, especially since you need a few years of experience. Although I am still not sure if I want to be a surgical nurse or not, it is the program I am planning to take in college. Nevertheless, I still believe it is an awesome career choice because you get to see and participate in a real surgery. Is that not amazing?  Furthermore, it is a career that is expected to grow by 12% by the time 2028 comes. Which is twice as fast as the national average for career growth: surgical nurses will be needed to keep up the demand.

This is a really good subject especially because I have an interest in that kind of stuff like dissection, so just being able to assist as a nurse would be really interesting.
