They are trained to use the proper techniques for first aid, medical treatments and much more, transport patients, educate others on health and safety issues. Paramedical occupations mainly work 59% of the time in Ambulatory health care services, 23% of the time in local, municipal, regional, fire departments, other public administration, and only 8% of the time in the hospital. There are more than 30,000 licensed paramedics in Canada even so demand for their services keep increasing, leading to a lack in many regions. Paramedicine is a growing profession, and as it keeps improving as happens at different levels across Canada there are various classification of paramedic which is the most common title. However some provinces have other levels of paramedics with different education requirement called, EMAs “Emergency medical assistants” or EMTs “ Emergency medical technicians” The term “paramedic generally contain Three levels of practice such as (primary care, advanced care and critical care) that are different form EMAs, EMTs and “emergency medical responders” EMRs. Some skills you need to perform this job are: collaboration, knowing the people you are working with, communication skills, indulgence, active listening, leadership and more. The general education of a paramedic in Canada requires a high school diploma that focuses on science and English courses, Basic CPR and first-aids certificates, A valid driver’s license and minimum physical fitness. Once the program complete you have to pass an exam.
